Monica noticed that the boys had changed into clothes that were way different than the ones they normally wore. Saki looked mad, and the boys looked pretty bummed out and peeved as well.
“I don’t see why they had to cancel it,” Bill was saying. “Seriously, we could have performed perfectly fine if it wasn’t for that restaurant.”
“Well, the damage has been done,” Gustav said and looked down at his plain white T-shirt. “Why did we change again?”
“So that the fans, while THEY were evacuating from the ONLY EXIT they had at that studio, wouldn’t recognize us.” Tom snapped. He looked up and noticed Monica standing by the elevator. “Hey there.”
Monica looked around her and then back at Tom. “Hey…”
“Well, don’t just stand there,” he laughed. “Where’s everyone else?”
Monica inched over and took a seat at a leather couch opposite Tom. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear and sighed. “Kellie just came. I think Zanna’s in her room…and…there’s this one girl Kate…”
“Kate!” Tom began laughing hysterically. “Yeah she came by earlier this week. I’ve known her for ever.”
Monica half-smiled and stared down at a Coke that was standing before her. Georg strided over and picked it up, then sat next to her. Monica felt herself shaking from the knowledge that she was sitting next to the bassist for Tokio Hotel.
“Anything else happen around here?” Bill asked as Gustav opened up his laptop.
“No not really,” Monica looked over at him. His makeup was washed off, and his hair wasn’t in his famous ‘do. He looked really tired and worn-out, Monica realized. “Do you guys want anything?”
Tom groaned. “We need a chef.”
“It’s not like I can’t cook…” Monica laughed.
Tom looked towards the kitchen and then back at Monica. “Imma head up to the penthouse. If you can, though, can you bring up a
¾ ”
“We’ll just call room service…” Bill cut in for him. “I’d enjoy some sleep right now.”
Monica nodded and stayed seated as Tom, Georg, and Bill, one by one; got up and headed for the elevator. Gustav stayed put, iPod firmly in hand, and with another hand scanning over the mouse pad.
After an awkward silence, Gustav closed the laptop and pulled the earphones out of his ears. He started the conversation, which Monica found unusual.
“Do you like your room here?” he asked.
Monica, at first, was startled to hear his deep voice suddenly come out. “It’s awesome.”
Gustav smiled and looked down towards the ballroom. “We’re planning on having an open house soon.”
“Sounds like fun.” Monica said, and looked at her thumb.
“We’ll need some help coordinating it,” Gustav said, as if hinting on something. “Would you mind?”
Monica’s head buzzed. Working with Tokio Hotel? SWEET! “Of course not! Just tell me what to do.”
Gustav smiled, making Monica’s stomach explode with butterflies. “Here,” he said, and pulled out a small paper and handed it to her. “It’s some stuff we’ll need you to do while we’re gone for the next few days…finishing the tour and everything…”
“Oh,” Monica said, scanning down the line. “Okay.”
She tried to sound happy for Gustav. He just smiled, said good-night, and then walked towards the elevator with his laptop and iPod. When the doors closed, Monica groaned and looked back down at the list.
1. Decorations.
2. Invites (list is found in Administration Office).
3. Music/DJ
4. Cook.
5. Set-up and clean-up.
She stuck her tongue out and folded the note into her back pocket before returning to sulk on the couch. She hated lists.
